Weak low pressure brings unsettled weather and cooling to Cyprus
Cyprus is currently experiencing the effects of a weak low-pressure system, resulting in unsettled weather conditions across the island. The forecast for the coming days includes local showers and isolated thunderstorms, with phenomena expected to develop initially in the western and northern regions before spreading to other areas, including the mountains, inland, and southeastern parts of the island.
Temperatures are currently reaching around 26°C in inland areas and coastal regions, and approximately 16°C in the higher mountains. However, meteorologists anticipate a gradual decline in temperatures reaching below seasonal averages by the end of the week, specifically by Saturday and Sunday. Winds will generally blow from southwesterly to northwesterly directions at speeds of 3 to 4 Beaufort, occasionally strengthening to 5 Beaufort in the afternoons.
Authorities expect the current unsettled pattern to persist through the weekend. While light dust was present in the atmosphere, it is expected to recede. Residents should monitor local weather updates as the Meteorological Service continues to track the development of individual rain events and thunderstorms expected to occur primarily in the afternoons.
