Son arrested for the murder of his father in Serres
A 36-year-old man was arrested on the evening of Tuesday, November 3, 2026, on suspicion of murdering his 68-year-old father in Serres, Greece. The victim was initially discovered dead in his home on August 1, 2026, with authorities first suggesting natural causes. However, a forensic investigation later revealed that the man died from internal hemorrhaging caused by multiple blows to the abdomen with a blunt object, likely a hammer or mallet.
The suspect, who was the last person to see his father alive, had previously been the focus of police investigations and media scrutiny. During interviews, including an appearance on the television program 'Fos sto Tounel,' he faced questions regarding discrepancies between his statements and security camera footage. The suspect attributed these inconsistencies to memory lapses resulting from ongoing health issues and continues to maintain his innocence.
Following the completion of the police investigation and the submission of the case file to the prosecutor, an arrest warrant was issued. The suspect is currently in custody and is expected to appear before an investigating magistrate to face formal charges related to the homicide.
