Shots fired at home of convict's father in Ormideia

Police in Cyprus are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at the residence of a 76-year-old man in Ormideia. Authorities were alerted to the event around 8:00 a.m. After arriving at the scene, investigators determined that at least seven to eight shots were fired at the building, damaging the facade of the house and a parked vehicle. The owner and his wife were inside the property at the time of the attack but remained unharmed.

The 76-year-old is the father of a 48-year-old man currently serving multiple life sentences for his involvement in a quadruple murder in Ayia Napa in 2016. Law enforcement officials believe the shooting was likely an attempt to send a message to the imprisoned son. This incident follows a similar criminal attack in August 2026, when the 33-year-old brother of the life-term prisoner was targeted in a failed murder attempt in the Kokkines area of Ayia Napa. Detectives from the Famagusta CID, alongside the Criminological Investigation Service, have cordoned off the area to collect forensic evidence. Investigations are currently extending to the Central Prisons as authorities work to determine the motive and identify the perpetrators.
