Nicosia General Hospital cardiac clinic to reorganize services
Starting January 1, 2027, the Cardiology Clinic at Nicosia General Hospital will transition to a new operational model, replacing its current outpatient services with twelve specialized clinics. This reorganization, announced by the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY), aims to improve the management of complex cardiac cases, including heart failure, rhythm disorders, and cardio-oncology complications. Under the new structure, patients will be referred to specific medical teams based on their individual needs, utilizing the expertise of interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and cardiovascular imaging specialists.
In addition to the new specialized outpatient departments, the facility will introduce a Cardiopulmonary Exercise Laboratory. The hospital, which operates the largest cardiology department in Cyprus, already houses a 24-hour hemodynamic catheterization laboratory and a non-invasive cardiology laboratory certified by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging. These existing resources will be integrated into the new framework to enhance diagnostic and treatment outcomes. According to health officials, this shift is designed to optimize clinical pathways rather than compete with private sector medical providers.
