Cypriot singer Giorgos Papadopoulos reveals past Eurovision rejections
Cypriot singer Giorgos Papadopoulos recently discussed his history with the Eurovision Song Contest during an appearance on the television program 'Super Katerina' in Athens. During the interview, he disclosed that he has been invited to participate in the competition three separate times throughout his career, including one instance involving a direct selection offer.
Papadopoulos explained that he felt compelled to decline all three invitations due to the significant time commitment required. He noted that the process would have demanded six months of absolute dedication to a single song, which was not feasible for him at the time given his ongoing professional commitments, such as writing music for artists like Aslanidou and Theodoridou. Despite his refusal to participate in the past, he expressed that he remains a dedicated fan of the event. When asked about his preferences for potential representation, he stated that if he were to compete, he would choose to represent Cyprus.
The singer, who is currently performing at a nightclub in Athens, provided these comments to clarify his stance on the contest, noting that while he enjoys the production, the logistical constraints of the selection process were the primary factor in his past decisions.
