Cyprus records mixed unemployment data for October 2026
Data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus on Wednesday reveals mixed trends in registered unemployment for October 2026. The number of registered unemployed persons at District Labour Offices reached 7,790, marking a significant annual increase of 691 individuals or 9.7% compared to October 2025.
In contrast, seasonally adjusted data, which is used to measure employment trends, indicates a slight decrease on a monthly basis. The seasonally adjusted figure for October stood at 10,711, compared to 10,741 in September 2026. This indicates a divergent outcome depending on the statistical methodology applied by the authorities.
The year-on-year rise in unemployment is primarily attributed to sectors including information and communication, administrative and support service activities, as well as professional, scientific, and technical activities. Authorities provided these figures as part of routine monthly reporting to reflect current labor market dynamics.
