Cyprus Handball Federation wins legal challenge over board elections
On November 4, 2026, the Supreme Judicial Committee for Sports (ADEA) in Cyprus issued a ruling regarding the legitimacy of the Cyprus Handball Federation (KOX) leadership. The committee unanimously rejected a lawsuit that had challenged the election results of the Federation’s President and Board of Directors, effectively confirming the current administration's institutional legitimacy.
The court’s decision follows a legal dispute where applicants sought to invalidate the electoral process. Following a comprehensive review of all legal arguments and evidence, the ADEA dismissed the claims in their entirety. The Federation expressed its satisfaction with the verdict, describing it as a restoration of truth and a victory for sports justice. The organization specifically recognized the efforts of its legal team, led by advisor Loizos Chatzidimitriou, for their handling of the case.
With this legal challenge resolved, the Cyprus Handball Federation stated that it will continue its operations without interruption. The administration emphasized that it remains focused on its strategic plan to develop and promote handball within Cyprus, maintaining its commitment to legal and ethical standards.
