Cyprus tourism sector reports resilient performance and positive 2027 outlook
At the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis announced that Cyprus's tourism sector has shown unexpected resilience throughout 2026, despite regional instability. The decline in total tourist arrivals for the year has been contained at 5.6%, a figure the Ministry expects to improve further by the end of December.
Koumis attributed this performance to the sector's ability to navigate market uncertainty, specifically referencing a negative event that occurred on March 1st. Looking forward, the Ministry is optimistic about 2027, as major British tour operators have already indicated their intention to increase the number of available flight seats to the island. These preliminary signals from the UK market suggest a stable recovery path for the coming season, reflecting ongoing confidence in Cyprus as a destination despite previous challenges.
