Cyprus records high electricity prices for non-household consumers in early 2026
Data released by Eurostat on Wednesday reveals that Cyprus recorded one of the highest electricity prices for non-household consumers in the European Union during the first half of 2026. The average cost in Cyprus reached 0.23 euros per kilowatt-hour, matching Italy. This figure is significantly higher than the EU average of 0.18 euros per kilowatt-hour, with Ireland recording the highest rate in the bloc at 0.27 euros per kilowatt-hour.
The findings specifically concern non-household consumers with an annual electricity consumption between 500 and 2,000 megawatt-hours. While electricity prices dropped across the EU, with 19 member states reporting decreases compared to the first half of 2025, Cyprus remains at the higher end of the spectrum. The EU average price decreased by 2% compared to the second half of 2025 and by 5.4% compared to the first half of 2025. Conversely, the lowest prices within the EU were recorded in Finland at 0.09 euros per kilowatt-hour, followed by Sweden at 0.12 euros, and Denmark, Spain, and Portugal at 0.13 euros per kilowatt-hour.
