Odysseas Michaelides considers candidacy for 2028 presidential elections
Odysseas Michaelides, leader of the movement 'Alma', has indicated that he may run for the presidency of the Republic of Cyprus in 2028. Speaking on the television program 'Alpha Enimerosi', he emphasized that while his personal candidacy remains an option, his primary objective is to forge a broad political coalition to facilitate change. To this end, his movement has initiated contacts with various political entities, including AKEL and Direct Democracy.
Michaelides clarified that discussions are currently in the preliminary stages, and no specific candidates, including himself, have been formally proposed or debated at the negotiating table. He rejected the notion that he is seeking to prioritize his own candidacy, stressing that the search for a common representative must be conducted without pre-existing conclusions. He argued that forcing a preferred candidate onto other parties before establishing common ground would be counterproductive to the goal of creating a unified political front.
