Court testimony continues in the trial for the death of 14-year-old Stylianos
The trial regarding the 2019 death of 14-year-old Stylianos Konstantinou continued at the Nicosia District Court on November 4, 2026. A special education liaison officer, who worked at the Agia Varvara Primary School attended by the victim, testified under cross-examination by defense attorneys Constantinos Kazantzis and Angelos Ioannou, representing the boy's parents.
The witness explained that her role involved coordinating a multidisciplinary team and gathering information from educators rather than communicating directly with the child. During questioning, the witness stated she lacked personal knowledge of the specific incidents involving the boy. She further testified that the mother showed indifference toward the child's need for psychological support, noting that the boy frequently arrived at school exhibiting signs of depression and exhaustion due to lack of rest.
The case stems from the tragic death of the minor in September 2019, which triggered extensive legal proceedings investigating potential negligence by both family members and state services. The defense focused on the reliability of the witness's testimony and the process of evaluating the family's situation, specifically challenging her observations regarding the parents' actions and their ability to seek medical help.
