Cypriot football federation imposes disciplinary sanctions on clubs and individuals
The Judicial Committee of the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) has issued several disciplinary sanctions following reports from recent matches. AEK Larnaca vice-president Andreas Lefkaritis received a two-match ban, while Omonia goalkeeping coach Andreas Loukridis was suspended for one match following their encounter. Additionally, AEK Larnaca was fined for racist behavior by fans directed at Duverne during the match.
Individual player sanctions were also announced. Christos Efstathiou of APEA Akrotiri was fined for denying a goal-scoring opportunity during a Coca-Cola Cup match against Nea Salamina on October 21, 2026. Furthermore, AEK Larnaca player Nicolas Andereggen was fined following his expulsion in the 70th minute of a cup match against Akritas Chlorakas for serious foul play and subsequent unsportsmanlike conduct. Zant Viktor Smaira of Karmiotissa Polemidion also received a disciplinary referral for serious foul play.
Following the fine for racist conduct, AEK Larnaca issued a stern warning to its fanbase. The club is actively identifying those responsible and announced that any future incident of a similar nature could lead to a €40,000 fine and a match played behind closed doors. The administration stated that they maintain a policy of zero tolerance regarding such discriminatory actions.
