Police arrest two women for series of house burglaries in Nicosia
Nicosia police have arrested two women, aged 27 and 33, in connection with at least 10 cases of illegal entry and theft from homes in the Nicosia district. The investigation began following a complaint from a 90-year-old woman, who reported that an unknown individual entered her home on Tuesday afternoon, November 4, 2026, and stole cash and various pieces of jewelry.
Authorities identified and detained the 27-year-old suspect later that day. During a search, officers recovered 560 euros and several gold items, which the suspect could not explain. Following her admission of guilt, she implicated a 33-year-old associate in other burglary cases. Both women were subsequently arrested under judicial warrants to facilitate the ongoing investigation into their alleged activities, which involved knocking on doors and using various pretexts to gain entry to residential properties.
Following their appearance in court, the Nicosia District Court issued a seven-day detention order against both suspects. Police are currently continuing their investigations into the broader criminal network to determine the full extent of their involvement in the reported robberies.
