Bank of Cyprus launches Danai, an artificial intelligence digital assistant
On November 5, 2026, the Bank of Cyprus officially introduced its first artificial intelligence-powered digital assistant, named "Danai." The tool was developed to streamline customer service by providing automated, real-time responses to various banking inquiries, reducing the need for customers to interact directly with bank staff for routine matters.
Beyond answering general service questions, the digital assistant offers practical functionality including the ability for users to freeze their bank cards through the automated interface. The system utilizes advanced artificial intelligence, following a similar operational model to existing digital tools currently employed by the Cypriot government. This integration marks a significant step for the institution in digitizing its client support services to ensure faster and more accessible financial assistance.
The launch of Danai is part of a broader industry trend toward automating banking interactions to increase efficiency for both the institution and its clients. By deploying this technology, the bank aims to provide 24/7 support for daily financial operations, effectively modernizing its customer communication infrastructure.
