Cyprus Department of Labour Relations to warn employers over employment term filings
The Cyprus Department of Labour Relations is preparing to issue warning letters to employers who have failed to submit their employees' terms of employment. Since April 2026, when the requirement was first introduced across Cyprus, over 46,000 employers have complied with the directive, which mandates the submission of employment terms and proof that workers have been formally notified.
Employers are encouraged to utilize the ERGANI information system to digitize this process. The platform allows businesses to input basic employment terms, generate standardized forms, and store this information securely. This system aims to reduce the administrative burden on companies while enabling authorities to monitor compliance with employment law without the need for manual document requests. The matter was recently discussed during an ICPAC CFO Society event held on October 21, 2026, in Nicosia, emphasizing the role of financial officers in implementing these transparency standards.
The initiative is designed to strengthen legal certainty and transparency within labor relations. Employers who have not yet met their obligations face imminent warning letters as the authorities step up enforcement efforts to ensure full institutional compliance across the island.
