Arrest made in connection with Limassol Marina restaurant arson
Police in Limassol have arrested a 32-year-old local man in connection with an arson attack on a restaurant located at the Limassol Marina. The incident occurred in the early hours of October 31, 2026, at approximately 5:15 a.m., resulting in damage to the building's glass storefront and outdoor equipment. Investigations conducted by the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) confirmed that the fire was started maliciously using flammable materials.
The suspect was identified through extensive analysis of surveillance footage, which reconstructed his route from his residence in the Agios Antonios area to the crime scene and back. During the investigation, authorities recovered items of clothing, including a jacket and gloves, which the suspect had discarded in a trash bin. The suspect, who was wearing the same khaki shirt seen in the recordings at the time of his arrest, confessed to the crime during interrogation. Following these developments, the Limassol District Court ordered the man to be held in custody for eight days.
This incident follows prior criminal activity targeting the same business, which is owned by a 60-year-old Ukrainian businessman. Reports indicate that the premises had been targeted in a previous shooting attack. The investigation remains active as authorities examine the underlying motives for the arson.
