Fatalities reported in Gaza as ceasefire violations continue
Recent military operations in the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of five people following a series of Israeli strikes and gunfire. The fatalities occurred across multiple locations, including a 12-year-old boy killed by gunfire near the Al-Bureij refugee camp, two individuals struck in separate attacks near Al-Zawaida, a woman killed in Khan Yunis, and an additional person killed by a drone strike west of Gaza City. These events exacerbate the existing tension between Israel and Hamas, both of whom have accused each other of violating the ceasefire that has been in place since October 10, 2025.
The Israeli military confirmed the strikes near Al-Zawaida, stating that the operations were aimed at Hamas militants. This escalation follows two years of intense conflict that began in October 2023. Civil defense services in the Hamas-governed territory report that these strikes have caused multiple injuries alongside the casualties. The situation remains volatile as the fragile agreement, intended to end the protracted war, continues to face systemic challenges and mutual accusations of breaches from both sides.
