Intense diplomatic activity ahead of Cyprus trilateral meeting
Diplomatic efforts regarding the Cyprus issue have intensified ahead of a crucial trilateral meeting scheduled for Monday. Deputy Government Spokesperson Giannis Antoniou confirmed that the government is currently focused on determining the appropriate methodology to establish common ground that could pave the way for direct negotiations.
Discussions are centering on the potential opening of four new crossing points. While specific details remain under review due to the sensitivity of the talks, the proposed locations include Mia Milia, the Louroujina–Lymbia area, and the route between Athienou, Pyroi, and Aglantzia. Notably, the Greek Cypriot side has reportedly proposed a connection between Kambos and Karavostasi as the fourth location, intentionally bypassing the politically sensitive area of Kokkina.
Antoniou urged the public to wait for final announcements, noting that the negotiations are currently at a delicate stage. The upcoming trilateral meeting is expected to clarify these proposals and determine if progress can be made toward broader reunification discussions.
