Techisland welcomes revisions to the business registration framework in Cyprus
On November 6, 2026, the tech industry association Techisland officially welcomed a decision by the Cypriot Council of Ministers to revise the operational framework of the Business Facilitation Unit’s registry. The association stated that these changes address critical needs for existing companies and aim to foster a more favourable environment for long-term growth and foreign investment on the island.
Techisland emphasized the significant evolution of the Cypriot economy, citing data from FT Locations presented during the 20th anniversary of Invest Cyprus. According to the report, the share of software and IT services in new foreign direct investment projects in Cyprus surged from 6% between 2004 and 2011 to 43% in the 2018–2025 period. Furthermore, Cyprus currently ranks first globally in the export of information and communication technology (ICT) services as a percentage of total national exports, highlighting the sector's vital role in the domestic economy.
The revised framework is expected to enhance the potential for increased future investment and support the development of local human resources. By streamlining registration processes, the government aims to solidify Cyprus's status as an attractive hub for international technology firms, ultimately contributing to sustained economic stability and professional development for the local workforce.
