Two men remanded following attempted murder of 74-year-old in Paphos
Two individuals, aged 22 and 28, were arrested and remanded in custody for six days by the Paphos District Court following a violent assault on a 74-year-old local businessman on November 4, 2026. The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. outside an apartment complex in Paphos, where the victim was targeted by a driver attempting to strike him with a vehicle. After failing to hit the man, the driver intentionally rammed the victim's car, causing significant damage, before fleeing the scene.
Following the vehicle attack, two assailants approached the victim and threw chairs at him. The elderly man sustained several injuries, including a haematoma on the back of his head, a broken nose, and various abrasions on his legs and back. He was subsequently transported to Paphos General Hospital for medical treatment and has since been discharged. The Paphos Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is currently leading the investigation into the motives behind the attack, with video footage of the incident reportedly being reviewed as part of the case.
