Severe weather conditions impact traffic in Cyprus
Heavy rainfall affected the provinces of Nicosia and Limassol on November 6, 2026, leading to poor visibility and hazardous road conditions. Authorities reported water accumulation on the Nicosia-Larnaca highway in both directions, prompting police to urge drivers to reduce speed, maintain safe distances, and keep their headlights on.
In addition to the weather-related warnings, a traffic accident occurred on the Nicosia-Limassol highway near the Mouttagiaka exit. Police responded to the scene to manage the resulting congestion; fortunately, no injuries were reported. Furthermore, the road between Agios Georgios and Silikou in the Limassol district was closed to traffic due to a road subsidence caused by the adverse weather.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution and utilize alternative routes where necessary. Official reports emphasize that road conditions remain volatile and subject to change as weather patterns fluctuate.
