Anorthosis hosts Omonoia in Cypriot league fixture amid club honors

Anorthosis Famagusta faced Omonoia Nicosia at the Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium on November 8, 2026, in a critical match for the ninth round of the Cypriot league. Seeking to move away from the bottom of the table, Anorthosis manager Barak Bakhar implemented a formation featuring a three-man defense, aiming to maintain the tactical cohesion and improved performance observed in recent matches despite a difficult loss against Aris Limassol.

Prior to the kickoff, the club held a special ceremony to honor three significant figures in its history. Antanakis Kafas, the record-holder for club appearances with 450, and Phoibos Vrachimis, the all-time leading scorer with 144 goals, were recognized for their contributions. Additionally, current defender Kiko was honored for reaching the milestone of over 100 appearances for the team.

Regarding the squad, manager Bakhar faced challenges due to injuries but had Furtado, Chrysostomou, and Mendotorp available for the matchday roster. The club recently appointed Lefteris Papachristou as the new financial director to address administrative restructuring. The team remains focused on turning its tactical progress under Bakhar into essential league points to stabilize its current standing.
