Sissy Christidou reflects on grieving her mother while balancing motherhood
Greek television presenter Sissy Christidou recently opened up about the emotional challenges she faced following the death of her mother, Mina, who passed away from cancer on February 4, 2022. Christidou described the difficulty of processing her grief while navigating a divorce and the responsibilities of raising two young children simultaneously.
During a discussion inspired by comments from Nikos Moutsinas on Nadia Boule's show, the presenter explained that she felt she did not have the "luxury" of mourning properly at the time. She stated that she had to resist her emotions to remain functional for her children, noting that she only felt she could experience her grief fully when she was left alone for a few days. Christidou reflected that suppressing these emotions caused the pain to linger for a long time, suggesting that one must eventually confront such personal trauma to move forward effectively.
