APOEL Nicosia celebrates its centenary with grand festivities and a high-stakes match

The Nicosia-based sports club APOEL is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary, marking its founding on November 8, 1926. Festivities in the capital began on November 7 with a 2.6-kilometer torch relay conducted by the club's supporters and legends, starting from the historic building where the club was established and ending at the current headquarters, where a commemorative plaque was unveiled. The municipal authorities supported the celebrations by illuminating the Old Town Hall and Eleftheria Square in the club's blue-and-yellow colors. Key figures, including club investor Savvas Liasis, government officials, and historical legends, participated in the events.

In addition to the centenary celebrations, the club is preparing for a high-profile football match against Aris Limassol at the GSP Stadium. APOEL, led by manager Nikos Papadopoulos, seeks to maintain its perfect home record, having secured three wins in three matches with a 12-2 goal ratio. The team will be without the suspended Sastre, with Dimitris Limnios likely to fill the position. Meanwhile, the club is in the final stages of formalizing an investment deal with a group represented by Savvas Liasis, with official signatures expected shortly.
