Cyprus enters period of cooler weather with temperatures dropping
Cyprus is experiencing a transition to cooler weather as a cold air mass has moved across the island starting the evening of Saturday, November 7, 2026. While the week began with mild conditions, meteorological services report a significant drop in temperatures, with coastal and inland areas seeing highs around 20°C to 23°C and mountain regions falling as low as 4°C. Localized showers and isolated thunderstorms were reported, particularly in mountainous areas such as Troodos and the Lefkara region, though no severe weather warnings have been issued by authorities.
Looking ahead, the cool trend is expected to persist through Monday. Meteorological official Andreas Chrysanthou noted that temperatures will remain two to three degrees below seasonal averages. Nighttime conditions will be particularly cold, with some high-altitude areas potentially experiencing frost as temperatures drop toward 2°C or even -1°C in specific locations like Chionistra. By Tuesday, the weather is projected to stabilize into a mostly clear pattern, although isolated rain remains possible, specifically on Tuesday night along the western and northern coasts.
