Energy communities network discussed in Nicosia
On November 5, 2026, the consulting firm ideopsis, in partnership with the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) and supported by the Aradippou Municipality, hosted a forum in Nicosia to foster cooperation among energy communities in Cyprus. The event was part of the European project ClusTECH, implemented under the INTERREG VI-A 'Greece-Cyprus 2021-2027' program, which seeks to strengthen regional energy initiatives.
The discussion featured representatives from local authorities, the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, and the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority (CERA). A presentation of new research indicated that most energy community projects in Cyprus are currently in early development stages. Participants identified key obstacles to progress, specifically highlighting challenges related to licensing, grid connection, technical design, financing, and public information.
Mayor of Aradippou, Christodoulos Partou, emphasized that establishing a collaborative network or cluster is essential to share experiences and build trust among stakeholders. The majority of attendees expressed strong interest in forming such a network to overcome shared hurdles and accelerate the growth of sustainable energy projects across the island. The forum served as a platform for these stakeholders to coordinate efforts and seek practical guidance for future development.
