Six killed and 15 injured in terrorist shooting in Krakow
On November 7, 2026, a 25-year-old Polish national carried out a terrorist attack in the Main Market Square of Krakow, Poland. Around 15:00 local time, the perpetrator drove his vehicle into the crowded tourist area and fired indiscriminately at passersby using a military-grade weapon. He was wearing tactical gear and body armor. During his arrest, the gunman exchanged fire with police, resulting in injuries to two officers before he was neutralized and taken to a hospital for surgery. The total death toll from the public attack stands at six, including four women and two men, among them one British citizen and three unidentified victims. Additionally, 15 people, including five foreigners, sustained injuries.
Following the event, Polish authorities discovered the bodies of three more relatives—two women and a man—at the suspect's residence, bringing the total number of deaths associated with the incident to nine. Prime Minister Donald Tusk described the act as terrorist in nature, noting that the perpetrator appeared to be motivated by radical far-right, ultranationalist ideologies. The Polish government has declared two days of national mourning. While initial reports suggested there might be multiple attackers, police headquarters confirmed the suspect likely acted alone. An investigation remains ongoing as authorities probe his background and the motive behind the killings.
