APOEL football club celebrates its 100th anniversary
On November 7, 2026, an official event took place on Ledra Street in Nicosia to mark the centenary of the APOEL sports club. This historic location was chosen as it served as the site where the club was founded one hundred years ago. The ceremony honored the legacy of the organization, reflecting on its profound impact on the local community and its sporting achievements over the past century.
Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou, a former board member of the club, addressed the attendees, highlighting that APOEL has transcended the role of a mere football club to become a symbol of values and memory. He specifically recalled the club's historic advancement to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League as a defining moment in its history. Club president Costas Schizas also spoke at the event, emphasizing that the institution has built its legendary status through persistent effort and the contributions of those who have upheld its ideals throughout the last hundred years.
