EuroLeague planning expansion with new franchise licenses
The EuroLeague is currently evaluating candidates for long-term franchise licenses as part of a significant organizational expansion. Reports from Serbia suggest that PAOK, Dubai BC, Paris, and Valencia are primary candidates for permanent status, with these clubs expected to invest significant capital to secure their positions. Conversely, the future of Partizan remains uncertain, as the club faces potential financial requirements of 50 million euros, with an initial payment of 12.5 million euros due this autumn.
Simultaneously, Israeli media indicates that Hapoel Tel Aviv is also positioned to receive a franchise license, ensuring long-term participation in the top European competition. In contrast, Hapoel Jerusalem is reportedly not under consideration for a permanent spot and will likely continue to pursue qualification through the EuroCup. The EuroLeague management is expected to make final decisions regarding these licenses during a board meeting scheduled for later in November.
