Recent arrests in Cyprus involve thefts from elderly citizens
Police in Nicosia and Larnaca have arrested several individuals in connection with thefts targeting elderly residents. On November 4, a 27-year-old woman was apprehended in Nicosia after allegedly stealing cash and jewelry from a 90-year-old woman's home. The suspect subsequently implicated a 33-year-old woman in other residential burglaries. Both individuals were arrested on November 5 and were scheduled to appear before the Nicosia District Court on November 6 to determine their detention status.
Separately, in Larnaca, a 34-year-old housekeeper was arrested on November 7 for allegedly stealing over 42,000 euros from her 81-year-old employer. The investigation began after a relative reported suspicious bank transactions on November 3. Authorities discovered that the suspect had transferred funds abroad and used the victim's bank card to purchase jewelry and mobile devices. During a search of the suspect's residence, police recovered 620 euros and jewelry valued at 1,600 euros, all allegedly funded by the employer's account.
