Elderly woman dies after falling into ravine during mushroom foraging trip

On the afternoon of November 7, 2026, 75-year-old Militsa Fanti from Nicosia died following a fatal fall in a mountainous area near Kambos. The incident occurred at approximately 15:50 while she was foraging for mushrooms with a relative, identified by some sources as her son.

According to initial police reports, the accident happened as the woman attempted to pick a final mushroom while her relative was moving their vehicle to depart. She lost her balance and fell into a deep ravine, sustaining severe head injuries. Emergency services transported her by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after 17:00.

The Kampos Police Station is conducting an investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy. An autopsy will be performed at a later stage to determine the precise cause of death.
