APOEL football club celebrates 100th anniversary
On November 8, 2026, the Cypriot sports club APOEL marked its centennial anniversary with a series of commemorative events at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia. The celebration coincided with a significant 10th-round league match against Aris, which ended in a 2-1 victory for APOEL. Thousands of supporters participated in a massive march to the stadium, which saw a complete sold-out, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the day.
The commemorations featured several symbolic displays by the 'Orange' fan group, including a complex tifo presentation during the players' entrance and a massive pyro show in the 26th minute, referencing the club's founding year of 1926. In the second half, fans unfurled a banner depicting Archangel Michael, whose feast day falls on the same date. The events were honored by official messages of congratulations from the Cyprus Football Association and the Cyprus Basketball Federation.
Following the match, the club held a gala event on the pitch featuring past and present players. Club president Charis Fotiou addressed the crowd, emphasizing that the milestone belongs to the supporters and concluded the ceremony by leading the stadium in singing the Greek national anthem.
