President Nikos Christodoulides faces low approval ratings in latest poll
Nearly three years into his presidency, Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides continues to face significant public dissatisfaction, according to a recent poll conducted by Rai Consultants Ltd for Alpha Cyprus. The survey reveals that 64% of citizens are dissatisfied with his performance, while only 35% express satisfaction. Of those polled, 9% are very satisfied, 26% are somewhat satisfied, 38% are not very satisfied, and 26% are not satisfied at all.
While public sentiment remains largely pessimistic regarding the country's direction, analysts note that foreign policy remains the president's strongest asset. Conversely, his internal governance and efforts to combat corruption have drawn the most criticism. The current satisfaction figures remain relatively stable compared to previous data, with the lowest point occurring in January at 33% and highs of 39% and 41% observed in March and May of this year.
The findings highlight a consistent trend of skepticism from the electorate as the administration approaches the three-year mark. No specific future policy shifts or immediate government responses were outlined in the reports, leaving the administration to navigate these ongoing challenges in public perception.
