Deadly shooting incident in Krakow market square
On November 7, 2026, a mass shooting occurred at the main market square in Krakow, Poland, resulting in at least six deaths and 15 injuries. A 25-year-old Polish national drove into the historic square around 3:00 p.m. and opened fire on the crowd before being confronted and incapacitated by police.
Following the attack, authorities discovered three additional bodies—reportedly the gunman's parents and sister—at the suspect's residence. Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who is overseeing the investigation with the interior ministry, announced the discovery of these relatives via drone surveillance and subsequently declared two days of national mourning. Among the victims of the market shooting was at least one British national.
The investigation into the suspect’s motives and the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths of his family members is currently ongoing. Authorities remain focused on the legal proceedings following the gunman's arrest, while the nation observes the mourning period designated by the government.
