Russian strikes hit energy infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa
On November 8, 2026, Russian forces conducted overnight strikes targeting energy infrastructure across Ukraine. The Ukrainian energy provider DTEK reported that significant facilities were damaged in the Dnipropetrovsk region, leaving over 600,000 residents without electricity.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the attacks, stating that the strikes targeted infrastructure supporting the Ukrainian military. Additionally, Russia claimed to have hit a container ship carrying weaponry and military equipment in the port of Odesa. The Ministry also reported a separate strike on an electrical substation in the Zhytomyr region, which they stated provides power to Ukraine’s defense industry.
These events mark a continuation of ongoing efforts by Russia to disrupt the energy stability and military supply chains of Ukraine. Repair crews are assessing the damage in the affected regions, though no specific timeline for the restoration of power has been announced by official authorities.
