Cyprus Central Agency for Equal Distribution of Burdens marks 30 years of operation
The Central Agency for Equal Distribution of Burdens in Cyprus, known as KFIKV, has reached its 30th anniversary, having operated from 1996 through September 2026. Deputy Director George Sofokleous reported that the agency has approved a total of 57,853 applications over three decades, providing financial support amounting to €2.57 billion. This translates to an average of approximately 1,928 approved applications per year.
The distribution of funds includes 44,980 direct loans totaling €1.38 billion and 12,873 interest-subsidized loans worth €1.19 billion. Specific allocations consist of 33,514 education loans (€858.3 million), 4,587 housing loans (€321.4 million), 2,924 loans for young couples (€47.4 million), and 1,239 medical loans (€19.8 million). Additionally, the agency subsidized 12,712 housing rentals and 161 professional projects. These initiatives are intended to provide solvency and value to properties located in occupied territories.
The agency continues to function as a primary mechanism for assisting individuals through specific legal criteria, managing a high volume of requests annually. It remains a key pillar of support for those facing financial difficulties, with ongoing efforts to process current and future applications as part of its mandate to distribute burdens equitably.
