Cyprus promotes sports tourism at international and local marathons

Cyprus is participating in the 43rd Athens Authentic Marathon, held on November 7-8, 2026, as an institutional partner. The Deputy Ministry of Tourism is also present at the Allwyn Marathon Expo 2026, which took place from November 4 to 7 at the Palaio Faliro indoor arena, where it promoted the island as a premier sports tourism destination to international runners.

In addition to international outreach, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism has announced its role as a Platinum Sponsor for the upcoming Radisson Hotels Larnaka Marathon, scheduled for November 15, 2026. Deputy Minister Costas Koumis stated that this partnership is part of a strategic plan to position Cyprus as a year-round destination for athletes. The event, centered at Finikoudes, aims to showcase the island's landscape and hospitality under the national "Love Cyprus" brand, fostering international athletic participation.
