Cyprus issues yellow weather warning for high temperatures
The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for extreme maximum temperatures affecting the island. The alert will be in effect on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 11:00 to 17:00 local time. Temperatures in the interior of the country are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius. Coastal areas will see slightly lower temperatures, ranging between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius, while mountainous regions are forecasted to reach around 30 degrees Celsius. Experts have cautioned the public about the risk of heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke, and advised taking appropriate precautions. High humidity levels are expected to persist in coastal areas. Additionally, authorities have warned of a high risk of fires in all forest regions. The current weather is influenced by seasonal low pressure, with skies remaining mainly clear.
