Cyprus meteorological service issues yellow weather warning for thunderstorms
The Cyprus Meteorological Service has issued a yellow weather warning in effect from 11:00 to 18:00 on June 14, 2026. The alert covers mountainous regions, inland areas, and the southeastern coast. The forecast warns of isolated strong thunderstorms accompanied by hail, with rainfall intensity potentially exceeding 35 millimetres per hour. Weak low pressure and unstable air masses are reported to be the primary cause of these phenomena. Winds are expected to blow from the southwest to northwest at force 3 to 4 Beaufort, increasing to 4 to 5 Beaufort on the coast during the afternoon. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach 33°C inland, 27°C-30°C on the coasts, and 24°C in the highest mountain areas. Authorities advise residents to remain cautious as weather conditions remain unstable throughout the island.
