Unstable weather conditions and localized storms in Cyprus
As of July 7, 2026, Cyprus is experiencing seasonal low pressure and unstable weather. Isolated showers and thunderstorms have been recorded in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, including districts of Limassol, Nicosia, and Larnaca. Some locations experienced heavy rainfall and localized flooding in riverbeds. The Department of Meteorology warns of possible hail in areas affected by thunderstorms. Afternoon winds are expected to reach 5 to 6 Beaufort in southern and eastern coastal areas. Temperatures are forecast to reach 36°C inland, 32°C on the coast, and 26°C in the mountains. Nights will remain clear with temperatures falling to 22°C inland and 18°C in higher elevations. Similar unstable weather with isolated afternoon storms is expected through Thursday, while conditions should remain mostly clear by Friday.
