Unstable weather conditions continue in Cyprus with yellow warning issued
Cyprus has been experiencing three days of unstable weather driven by seasonal low pressure. The Department of Meteorology issued a yellow weather warning on July 8, effective from 11:00 to 18:00, covering mountainous and inland areas. These regions reported isolated rain, strong storms, and potential hail, with significant precipitation recorded in communities such as Agros, where 100 millimeters of rain fell in two and a half hours. Andreas Chrysanthou from the Meteorological Service noted that these rains are beneficial for water reserves, particularly for the Kouris dam. While mountainous areas face these phenomena, coastal regions have remained mostly clear. Forecasts indicate that intense weather will begin to subside on Thursday and Friday, with rain becoming restricted primarily to mountain ranges. Temperatures are expected to remain within seasonal norms, reaching approximately 36-37 degrees Celsius inland and 30-33 degrees Celsius along the coasts.
