Yellow heat warning issued for Cyprus on Friday
The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow weather warning for extreme temperatures in Cyprus on Friday, July 17, 2026. The warning is in effect from 2:00 pm until 4:30 pm, with inland temperatures expected to peak at 40°C. Seasonal low pressure is currently affecting the region. Weather conditions will remain mostly fine, though increased cloud cover is expected in the afternoon with a potential for isolated showers in the mountains. Winds will start light and variable before strengthening to force 4 to 5 along the coast. Coastal temperatures are forecast to reach 32°C in the west and southwest, and 34°C in other areas, with 29°C in the higher mountains. Overnight temperatures will drop to around 24°C inland and on the coast, with 20°C in the mountains, accompanied by potential mist or fog in southern and eastern regions. From Saturday through Monday, the weather is expected to remain largely clear, though afternoon clouds in the mountains may trigger isolated showers or thunderstorms.
