Cyprus police report multiple arrests and deportations in coordinated operations
The Cypriot Ministry of Justice and Public Order announced that 43 arrests and 37 deportations were carried out over a three-day period as part of coordinated operations against illegal migration and delinquency. During a specific operation held on Monday in Nicosia, Limassol, and Paphos, 27 foreign nationals were arrested for illegal residence, with 17 already processed for repatriation. Additional statistics from May 9-10 show 16 arrests, 21 deportations, and 11 voluntary departures. Authorities also identified two cases of forged travel documents at the airports of Larnaca and Paphos. Plans for May 12 include 3 deportations and 30 voluntary departures, including 16 Syrian nationals. Furthermore, a joint return flight to Pakistan and Georgia is scheduled for May 13 to deport 10 more individuals. Separately, police conducted nationwide patrols resulting in 9 arrests for various offenses, including assault and drug possession, along with hundreds of traffic citations.
