Police conduct widespread overnight operations across Cyprus
Cypriot police conducted a series of coordinated, nationwide operations aimed at preventing criminal activity and ensuring public order. Reports from various sources provided conflicting data on the scale of these operations, with arrest totals ranging from two to ten individuals for offenses including assault on police, burglary, and drug possession. Police checked between 347 and 717 drivers, along with 30 to 52 business premises. Traffic violations were a primary focus, resulting in between 215 and 280 formal complaints. Specifically, authorities recorded between 88 and 102 cases of speeding and seized between two and six vehicles. Breathalyzer tests yielded positive results for 4 to 14 drivers, while drug tests identified between one and three individuals under the influence. These operations remain part of a daily strategy to increase police visibility and public safety.
