Three arrested in Limassol as part of organized crime investigation
On Friday, the Nicosia District Court ordered the detention of three individuals arrested during police operations in Limassol. Two suspects, aged 49 and 50, were remanded for seven days, while a 45-year-old police officer was remanded for eight days. The investigation concerns money laundering, tax evasion, and involvement in a criminal organization suspected of extortion, arson, and shootings. Authorities allege the group is linked to an individual based in Dubai who is wanted by Greek authorities for cigarette and fuel smuggling. During the police investigation, assets exceeding 420,000 euros were seized, including five luxury vehicles. Financial scrutiny revealed that the police officer's wealth and numerous overseas trips were inconsistent with his declared income. Additionally, evidence found at the officer's residence, including anabolic steroids and ammunition, is currently undergoing forensic analysis.
