Escalating conflict in southern Lebanon and ongoing diplomatic talks
Recent Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon resulted in multiple civilian and medical casualties, including six deaths in Marwaniye and another six in Tyre, where an attack damaged the Jabal Amel hospital. An Israeli drone strike killed a dentist and his two children in the village of Klayyeh. The Israeli military maintains that it acts against Hezbollah, while Lebanon reports a fragile, partial ceasefire agreement involving the U.S. that aims to de-escalate strikes in Beirut and northern Israel. Despite ongoing peace talks in Washington, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israel has U.S. backing to target Beirut's southern suburbs if Hezbollah continues its cross-border attacks. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed a transition in Mossad leadership and reiterated a hardline stance against the Iranian regime. Official reports indicate that since March 2, over 130 medical personnel have been killed in the conflict. Delegations from Israel and Lebanon continue negotiations at the U.S. State Department.
