Israeli strikes on Beirut suburbs follow cross-border exchange
On June 14, 2026, the Israeli military conducted air strikes against Hezbollah targets in the Dahiyeh neighborhood of Beirut, stating it was a response to three projectiles fired by the group into northern Israel near Someri and Shlomi. The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the strikes resulted in two deaths and four injuries. Earlier, the Israeli military issued evacuation orders for 29 locations, including areas in Nabatieh and Sidon, instructing residents to move north of the Zahrani River. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for targeting an Israeli artillery position in Al-Adaisah. Iranian officials, including Mohammad Jafar Asadi and Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, condemned the actions, stating that such strikes would not go unanswered and accusing the United States of failing to ensure the stability of ceasefires. Meanwhile, hostilities have intensified across southern Lebanon, with reports of strikes in Majdal Selem, Handata, Al-Raihan, and near Tyre, where a hospital reported ten staff injuries. This conflict escalation follows months of regional tension initiated on March 2, 2026.
