Escalation in military hostilities between the United States and Iran
Tensions in the Middle East have intensified as the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported shooting down a total of six Iranian attack drones near the Strait of Hormuz since Friday. U.S. forces also conducted strikes against coastal radar installations within Iranian territory. In retaliation, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard launched ballistic missiles targeting military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, including the Al-Salem airbase and the U.S. 5th Fleet headquarters. The U.S. military stated that six missiles were intercepted while one failed to hit its target. Bahrain and Kuwait have formally condemned these attacks as violations of their national sovereignty. Meanwhile, indirect negotiations between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending the conflict remain stalled, with Iranian officials citing the release of approximately 24 billion dollars in frozen assets as a primary condition for a deal. U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed that an agreement is necessary, while noting that Iran's leadership remains resistant to current terms.
