EAC employees to hold 24-hour strike on April 23, 2026

Employees of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) have announced a 24-hour strike scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2026. The industrial action will begin at midnight on April 22 and conclude at midnight on April 23. Participating trade unions include EPOPAH, SHDIKEK-AHK, SEPAHK, SYBAHK, and the Free Pancyprian Organization of EAC Personnel. The unions stated that the strike is a response to the lack of progress on energy sector issues following warning strikes held on February 27 and March 18, 2026. Despite multiple letters sent to the EAC management, unions claim that relevant authorities have failed to address their concerns. The strike action will include 50% of the shift staff at the Dhekelia Power Station. Representatives from the four major unions formally notified the EAC Director General, the Board of Directors, and the Human Resources Director of their decision. The unions decided to publicize the correspondence due to the severity of the situation.
