Flight resumption from Israel to Cyprus announced for next week

On April 19, 2026, the Director General of the Cyprus Hotel Association (PASYXE), Christos Angelidis, announced that flights from Israel to Cyprus are expected to resume next week. This resumption follows a recent ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. Angelidis noted that flight numbers are anticipated to exceed previous levels, which is considered a significant boost for the Cypriot tourism sector, as Israel is the country's second-largest source of tourists. Despite this positive development, the hotel industry is facing challenges in the Famagusta district. Specifically, hotel occupancy rates in Protaras are currently lower than in other parts of Cyprus for April and the first half of May. The association is working to preserve the summer season, which remains a primary focus for the sector. Officials expressed hope that the increased tourist flow from Israel will be sustained moving forward.
